PhD in History from the University of Chile; Professor of History and Geography, BA in History and MA in History from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Full Professor at the University of Concepción. Director of the Department of History and its PhD programme. Editor of the Journal of History of the Universidad de Concepción. He has developed several lines of research in the field of history, using multiple scales of analysis and establishing working relationships with specialists from various disciplines in an inter and transdisciplinary manner. Currently, he is directing the Fondecyt research project Nº 1230837 on "Environmental history of the Juan Fernández Archipelago, XVII-XX centuries".
